Ashanti Douglas, popularly referred to as Ashanti was born in Glen Cove New York United States on 13 October 1980. She is a performer and a singer who hails from the United States. Ashanti started her career as a teenager, and was then signed by Murder Inc. Records by 2002. That same year Ashanti was featured in Fat Joe's What's Luv? song as well as Ja Rule's Always On Time track both of which were huge hits. The songs of Ja Rule include Foolish (number one) and the track What's Luv! What's Luv? In this post, we'll celebrate with you the day of her birthday. Ashanti Douglas also known as Ashanti as she's popularly known, was born in Glen Cove New York in the year 1980. Tina Douglas, her mother was a former dance teacher. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. Kenashia Schia Douglas, her younger sister is older. Douglas named her after the Ashanti Empire in Ghana where women were able to exercise power as well as influence. Douglas desired Ashanti to be a model for the Ashanti Empire. James, her grandfather, was a prominent leader of civil rights during the 1960s. He worked along with Martin Luther King Jr. Her mother was impressed by Ashanti's talents following her performance of Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti acted as a child in Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992) as well as Ted Demme's Who's the Man? The singer also made a few cameos in music videos including K.R.S.-Act One's MC's Like They don't know and the 8-Off's Ghetto Girl. After receiving offers from record companies like Bad Boy and Jive, Ashanti had a difficult time trying to be a popular singer. Her performances continued throughout New York, and spent in the Murder Inc. studios hoping to get a break. Ashanti initially appeared on the Big Pun song How We Roll as a backing vocalist. Ashanti also sang on Fat Joe's song What's Luv? Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and Fat Joe's "What's Luv?" were also featured. The debut single Foolish includes a track sample from the 1983 hit song by DeBarge called Stay With Me. Ashanti released her self-titled debut album in 2002. The album was with Irv Goti's Murder Inc. label. The Declaration is Ashanti's fourth studio album, came out on the 3rd of June, 2008. Hey Baby After the Club came out on the 16th of October to both radio and digital platforms. She also starred in the films Christmas in the City, Army Wives and Latasha Monteclair. Her track Rock wit U was sampled by British singer Aitch for his track Baby on 10 March 2022.
